Who are we?
Trefeglwys Community Council is the first level of local government for the communities of Trefeglwys, Llawr-y-glyn and Staylittle (Penforddlas). Council members are unpaid volunteers and are elected to act on behalf of their constituents for the benefit of the communities they serve. There are 10 Councillors, 6 for the community of Trefeglwys and 2 for each of Llawr-y-glyn and Staylittle. Their details can be viewed on the council website www.trefeglwyscc.com along with details of how to contact the Council. However, all Councillors work together as a team to serve the whole of the Trefeglwys area.

What do we do?
Trefeglwys Community Council meet at the Memorial Hall, Trefeglwys on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7pm. All members of the community are welcome to attend. Agendas and minutes are posted on the website and community noticeboards.
Community Councils have limited legal powers to deliver a wide range of services and provisions but have to adhere to rules and regulations as issued by Welsh Government.
The Trefeglwys Community Council works in partnership with Powys Council and other community councils to achieve the best deal for Trefeglwys area residents.
We consider planning applications and make recommendations to Powys Council planning authority based on local knowledge and the needs of the community.

What is our mission?
The Trefeglwys Community Council aims to improve the environment, facilities and quality of life of the community. We will offer support, including funding for equipment or premises to help other bodies provide services, environmental initiatives and arts and sports activities.

How do we promote community engagement?
The Trefeglwys Community Council will:
-
Represent the community to Powys Council
-
Challenge any actions perceived to be detrimental to our community and take positive action where we can
-
Use our powers to promote and support community initiatives
-
Support any activities which promote the well-being of the whole community
-
Advise, petition, influence and advocate causes and cases of concern on behalf of the Trefeglwys area community, providing it does not put the Council in a pre-determined position
-
Maintain our policy of openness and transparency at meetings and publish minutes, reports and accounts on our website
-
Endeavour to bring local people together to make things happen.
Annual Reports can be found here
